This page needs to be linked in with the abstract definition of formal polynomials, the space they're on ect. However none of this is needed yet. I'm writing this to make my answering of a question more useful Alec (talk) 11:51, 9 March 2019 (UTC)
Quadratic equation
[ilmath]ax^2+bx+c\eq 0[/ilmath]

Information

Only turning point

  • [math]\frac{d}{dx}\big[ax^2+bx+c\big]\Big\vert_{x}\eq 2ax+b[/math]

We are interested in the derivative being zero, ie:

  • [ilmath]2ax+b\eq 0[/ilmath]
    [ilmath]\implies 2ax\eq -b[/ilmath]
    [math]\implies x\eq\frac{-b}{2a} [/math] Confirmed
